Damsels and Dragons

Chapter 9 - The Birds, the Bees and the Dragons

I was leaning on the tower to peek in the window of my room. I could smell and faintly hear that they had been in there a while. I know it was irrational, they were nice people, but I was scared they'd steal my stuff.

Looking in I saw them talking. My stash was undisturbed. Looking at it again after having seen gold made it all look a bit lack luster. I mean they were still pretty but I've now seen something even prettier that makes them no longer the prettiest things I've seen. I really wanted my own gold disk thingy.

After I asked them what was up they started coming down the tower and I stopped leaning on my home. It was able to hold me but still I was bigger and heavier now and I had to be careful.

"Did you guys find anything?" I asked. We had originally came here to find out why I turned into a dragon but we kind of figured out that before they went in, so I guess it was more of a tour of my home than a clue finding trip.

"Nothing you don't already know about." Liv told me.

"You guys didn't go through my room too much did you?" I knew that didn't touch my shinies but I had other stuff up there like my journal and books. Oh no, my clothes were up there. What if that’s what they were talking about. That I was actually just a stupid guy pretending to be a girl.

"We tried to be respectful." Liv said she looked down. Oh no.

"T-Tried?" I started backing up. I didn't want them to yell at me or be mean to me.

"Nissa what's wrong? I swear none of us read your journal." Liv said.

"Y-You found my journal?! You uh didn't go through my clothes did you?"

Liv and Daniel looked at each other. Did they? Oh, Oh no.

"I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to lie. You j-just assumed and I didn't correct you. I'm sorry. I-I…" I was crying.

Daniel spoke up. "Nissa its fine. You have nothing to be sorry for."

"B-But I lied about my name and that I was a g-girl."

"I don't think you did. Linda lied to you about a lot of things, and she lied to you when she said you weren't a girl." He explained. "If you'd rather be a girl named Nissa. Then you are a girl named Nissa, and no one else gets to tell you you're wrong."

"I-I don't understand. I can't just change into a g-girl. I'm just a big stupid-" He cut me off.

"First, your body doesn't dictate whether or not you are a girl or a guy or something else. Second making changes are possible, though as a dragon I don't think you need to change anything. From the lack of anything between your legs and your general body shape I'd say you already got a girl's body."

Wait what. I lift my back leg as I go to look where my thing used to be on my human body. I noticed a hole but no thingy.

"Do girls not have a thingy between their legs?" I ask confused.

Millie just snorts, "a thingy?"

Liv just looked shocked. "You don't even know what the difference between men and women is do you?"

"Well guys are like big and strong and have beards and girls are small and have boobs right?" I asked. Linda never did actually explain it, but the books made it clear boys and girls were very different.

Millicent visibly winced at my explanation. Was I that wrong?

"I never once imagined I'd be explaining any of this to a dragon, but here goes nothing." Daniel took a deep breath, and stared explaining in detail the differences between human men and women. It went on longer than I thought. Apparently women have a thingy that doesn't stick out, which would explain why he said I'm a girl dragon. I did have to stop him when the stuff he was describing got really gross.

Millicent had occasionally spoken up to clarify some stuff. She seemed really smart. Daniel at first seemed kinda dumb but he was super knowledgeable about this stuff.

"Anyway, I think at this point it's important for me to say two things. I have no idea how this stuff works in dragons. Also I'm kind of like you. I didn't originally have a body that matched who I was. I had a different name, and people thought I was a girl but I wasn't. While I don't understand what it's like to suddenly become a dragon, I do know what it's like to be forced to live as a gender that isn't my own."

I didn't know what to say. H-He was like me but the opposite? Also not a dragon, but still. That was all just one big explanation where he kept telling me, I can be a girl if I want to, I can be Nissa if I want to.

"I uh, I think I'm a girl dragon."

The three of them had smiles on their faces. They actually congratulated me, it was so weird as I'd never experienced that before, but I liked it. I really like them even if they sometimes laugh at  me when I don't know something.

"I'm glad we could help you figure yourself out, but we are going to have trouble making it back before nightfall, and you need a place to stay." Liv said.

Was it selfish that I didn't want them to leave me?
